This Year 8 Biology course helps Mudiwa understand how living organisms function, interact and respond to their environment. Haley will study ecosystems, habitats, food chains, food webs, competition, adaptation and biodiversity before progressing to photosynthesis, respiration, gas exchange and exercise.
Lessons combine teacher instruction, scientific vocabulary, diagrams, retrieval practice, practical investigations and mastery quizzes. Learners will be expected to explain biological processes, interpret scientific information and use evidence to support conclusions.
Projects include creating and monitoring an ecosystem in a bottle, investigating photosynthesis and examining the effects of environmental change on biodiversity. The course follows the Bohunt Year 8 science pathway while building the knowledge and scientific reasoning needed for future GCSE Biology.
