This Year 8 Geography course investigates people, places, physical environments and the challenges facing the modern world. Haley will study development, development indicators, global inequality and the changing economies and populations of Asia.
Physical geography topics include coastal processes, erosion, transportation, deposition, coastal landforms, weather, climate and extreme weather. The environmental strand examines ecosystems, tropical rainforests, hot deserts, climate change, population, resources and sustainability.
Lessons include maps, photographs, geographical data, case studies, enquiry questions and extended writing. Haley will learn to describe patterns, explain processes, compare locations and evaluate possible solutions.
Projects include investigating the local area, analysing climate data and making recommendations about coastal management and sustainable development. The course is designed around Bohunt’s Year 8 Geography themes.
